What We Believe

God

We believe that God is one and that He has revealed Himself personally in the person of Jesus of Nazareth whom the Christian Church exalts as Lord and Christ.
References: John 1:1; 1 Corin. 8:6; Ephesians 4:5; 1 John 1:5; 4:6

Jesus of Nazareth

We believe that Jesus of Nazareth is co-equal with God, the Lord of history, the Author and Finisher of God's revelation to humankind, and the Savior of the world.
References: John 1:1-2, 14; 10:30; Col. 1:15-17; 1Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 1:1; 1 John 1:3.

The Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is God's Presence actively at work in the creation of the world, the empowerment of God's sercants, the communication of God's Word, and the fulfillment of God's purpose.
References: Luke 24:49; John 20:22; Acts 1:8

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is the faithful and timeless record of God's Word, and that its message changes lives when embraced in faith and followed in obedience.
References: John 5:39; 2 Timothy 3:16; 1 Peter 1:25; Revelation 22:18-19

Salvation

We believe that salvation is a process that begins in a personal decision, inspired by the Holy Spirit, to confess Jesus Christ as one's Lord and Savior and continues under the leadership of the Holy Spirit who enables a believer to reflect the image of God, the fruit of His Spirit.
References: Matthew 24:13; John 3:16; Romans 10:9; 1 Corin. 13-14:1; Galatians 5:23; Ephesians 2:8; Col 1:14

Spiritual Maturity

We believe that all Christians are called to a life of spiritual growth and service.
References: Matthew 5:48; Eph. 3:19; 5:1-4, 15-17; 6:11; Col. 1-9; 2 Thessalonians 5:15; 2 Peter 1:5; 3:8

Heaven/Hell

We believe that life continues beyond history, and that a person's final destiny is determined by his or her response to the Gospel of Jesus.
References: Matthew 16:22; Luke 12:5; 16:22-23; John 5:29; 11:25-26

Resurrection

We believe that a general resurrection will take place at the close of history, and that the Lord Himself will make an appearance on that day to escort His own to glory.
References: Matthew 25:31-34,41; John 5:28-29; 6:44; 1 Thessalonians 4:16

The Church

We believe that all believers who embrace Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are members of the family of God, which local congregations are but visible manifestations and Jesus is Lord of all.
References: John 17:21; Romans 12:5; Ephesians 4:4; Matthew 16:18; Col. 1:18

Gifts of the Spirit

We believe that every believer is equipped by God to participate in the Lord's work, and it is God who distributes these gifts regardless of gender, age, economic status, or nationality.
References: John 8:37-38; Acts 2:2, 17; 1 Corin. 12:7, 11; Galatians 3:28

Ordinances

We believe that the life and grace of the Lord Jesus is attested in three significant ordinances which the Church is called upon to practice: (1)Baptism (celebrating a believer's coming to faith and life under the Holy Spirit), (2) Communion (celebrating the Lord's gift of grace through His victory over sin, death, and the grave), and, (3) Foot washing (celebrating the Church's call to servant leadership).
References: Matthew 3:13; 28:19; Acts 2:39; Luke 30:31-32; Luke 22:14-22; Acts 2:42; 1 Corin. 11:23-26; John 13:2-15

The Kingdom of God

We believe that the kingdom of God is both a present and future reality, and it manifest its nature (love, joy, peace, and righteousness) through the rule of God's Spirit in the heart of believers.
References: Luke 10:9; 17:21-22; John 3:3-5; Romans 14:17; 2 Tim. 4:18; James 2:5

The Coming of Christ

We believe that the second coming of Christ will close human history and simultaneously be followed by a general resurrection and the universal judgment of Christ, which will result in an eternal separation for some and life everlasting for others.
